AboutHailing from Atlanta, Georgia, soprano Cassie Warthen started her career at Georgia Southern University, where she studied with Dr. Allen Henderson and Dr. Arikka Gregory. In her time at GSU, she was seen in the roles of Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Anna Maurrant (Street Scene), and Marilyn in the U.S. premiere of Stephen Chatman’s comic opera, Choir Practice, among others. Ms. Warthen was a Presser Scholar as well as a member of the Georgia Southern Honors program, where she completed her thesis paper, entitled “Women in the Mozart-DaPonte Trilogy.” Ms. Warthen graduated from Georgia Southern University magna cum laude with her Bachelor of Music May 2019.
Ms. Warthen has performed with the Harrower Opera Program as Emily in The Ballad of Baby Doe, and the Druid City Opera Workshop as Agnes Lee in scenes from Phillip Glass’ Appomattox. In 2021, Ms. Warthen graduated with her Master of Music in voice performance from the University of Memphis, where she was a student of Mary Wilson. During her time at the University of Memphis, Ms. Warthen studied the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro, Mimi in La Boheme, and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni. Over the summer of 2021, Ms. Warthen stepped back into live performances as Gertrud in Humperdinck's Hansel und Gretel with Chicago Summer Opera. The 2022 season brought Ms. Warthen overseas, where she participated in the Accademia Vocale Lorenzo Malftatti program. She closed out the year in Music On Site, Inc's production of Suor Angelica. Ms. Warthen headed to Utah in the 2023 season to study Fiordiligi from Cosi Fan Tutte with Utah Vocal Arts Academy. She also returned to work again with Moon River Opera as Lucy in their production of Menotti's The Telephone. |
